Letter from the

Chairman of the Board

Dear Friends,

Do you have dedicated seats in our Synagogue and wish to use them for Rosh Hashana and/or Yom Kippur?  If you haven't already so advised us, please take a few moments to reply to this e-mail and let us know that you are joining us.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Our thanks to Chief Chazzan Chaim Adler, who initiated and officiated at our first tefilla for Yom Kippur Katan this past erev Rosh Chodesh.  He has invited guest Chazzan Dov Heller to conduct the tefilla this coming month, on Tuesday, July 21 at
1:15 PM in Beit Midrash Be'er Miriam.  The community is invited to participate.

Last week's invitation for men with good singing voices and who read music to apply to join our Synagogue's Choir, generated a nice response to Elli Jaffe, our Choir Director.  He would like to audition more prospective singers who might be interested in joining the most renowned Synagogue choir in the world.  If you have the prerequisites and would like to be considered for membership in the Choir, please e-mail Mr. Jaffe at  ellijaffe@gmail.com

Each Shabbat and Yom Tov, we invite a pre Bar Mitzvah boy  to lead us in the An'im Zemirot (Shir Hakavod) after shacharit.  Because of the large number of people who want this opportunity, our Welcoming Committee Chairman Dr. Sheldon Abramson is coordinating this part of our service. The requirements are that the lad is below the age of 13, knows the words, has a singing voice and will be able to be heard throughout our Synagogue.  If you would like to reserve a specific Shabbat or Yom Tov for a young man, please contact Dr. Abramson at  dentist@netvision.net.il

The unveiling for our late Council Member and long time Chairman of our Audit Committee Mr. Yehuda Dominitz, z"l, will take place at the Givat Shaul cemetery this coming Monday, June 29 (7 Tammuz) at 6 PM.  Following the unveiling, Maariv, the study of mishnayot in his memory and words of Torah and remembrance will take place at the Ohel Nechama Synagogue (
3 Chopin Street in Jerusalem) at 8:00 PM. The community is welcome to participate.

Both books were published by Gefen Publishing. These books are wonderful assets for English Judaica libraries.

Mazal Tov to our congregants Gerald and Jaqueline Lieder on the births and britot of their newest great-grandchildren: Yedidya Eliahiv Oved, the son of Shira and Liron Oved and Malachi Taragin, the son of David and Orit Taragin.  May Yedidya and Malachi grow to Torah, chupah and maasim tovim and be constant sources of nachat to their families and to all Am Yisrael.

We continue to pray for the good health and immediate release of Gilad ben Aviva Schalit.  Please add prayers for refua sheleima for those who were injured in terrorist attacks and in the War in Gaza and for Ratza bat Reesa (Roslyn Lowy), Aryeh ben Sarah Leah (Chazzan Aryeh Goldberg), Amiram ben Reina (Amiram Benshimol), Zahava bat Rachel (Zahava Meczes), Channa bas Chaya Devorah (Anna Schlesinger), Bracha Miriam bat Rachel (Miriam Sheinberg), Chaim Ariel ben Vera Devora (Ariel Sharon), Shoshana Bat Miriam (Susan Shapiro), Chaya bat Chava (Chaya Herstik), Chaim Eliezer ben Chaya (Chaim Eliezer Herstik), Amit Yehuda ben Malka (Dr.Amit Schwartz), Shimon Elimelech ben Sima Rivka (Marc Weinberg), Avraham Yeshayahu ben Aviva (Avraham Yeshayahu Feiner),  Shai ben Rachel (Shai Peltz), Yehudah Leib ben Tziporah Rachel (Yehudah Rosenblatt), Miriam Rivkah bat Adina Leah (Miriam Strasberg), Bracha bat Penina Rivka Yoela (Beth Joshuah), Yissachar Dov ben Peshe (Bud Silver) and Moshe Avigdor ben Rivkah (Martin Herzog).  May they all be blessed with a speedy and complete recovery and enjoy good health for many more years.
