Letter
from the Chairman of the Board
Dear
Friends,
You
are cordially invited to join us this Sunday evening in celebration of
Purim. Mincha is at 5:30 PM with Maariv
and Megilla reading at 6:00 PM.
Following the service, there will be Ruach and soft drinks in the Main
Lobby of our building with the music provided by Benny Friedner. On Monday morning, our service begins at 8:00
AM in the Main Synagogue. We are
grateful to our Supporting Member Emanuel Blumfield who will be our ba'al
keriah for the morning service. We also thank Mr. Blumfield for his excellent
reading last Shabbat of Parashat Teruma.
The Maot Chittim campaign for this year has already begun. Families in need will be registering with us
next Tuesday and Wednesday (March 2 and 3) to receive financial assistance from
us prior to Pesach. Please help us to
help them by sending us your contribution.
Contributions should be sent to The Jerusalem Great Synagogue, POB 7924,
Jerusalem 91078. At the bottom of the
check, please note that it is for the Maot Chittim Fund. If you wish to give a United States Tax
Deductible contribution (for $100 or more) you may write the check to "The
American Friends of The Jerusalem Great Synagogue" and send it to the
above address.
You will certainly want to join us on Motzaei Shabbat March 13th
to hear Ambassador Yehuda Avner who will speak on "Israel's Prime
Ministers Past and Present."
Ambassador Avner, in addition to representing the State of Israel in
Ireland, Australia and England was a close advisor and confidant of five
Israeli Prime Ministers and has a wealth of diplomatic and personal experiences
with Israeli and foreign government leaders.
As I noted last week, on the evening of his talk signed copies of a
special pre-publication issue of his newest book "The Prime Ministers – An
Intimate Narrative of Israeli Leadership" published by Toby Press (a
division of Koren Publishers) will be available for 100 NIS (instead of the
regular 129 NIS price) at the lecture.
You may pre-order your copy by calling the Koren office at (02)
633-0517, by e-mailing them at ayelet@korenpub.com
or by faxing them at 02-633-0534.
